Friendly Fires

Like a lot of other bloggers, I was recently asked by Record of the Day Magazine for my pick for Breakout Artist of 2009. And while there were a number of worth candidates that I felt deserved a shout out, one in particular stands out to me above the rest, indie dance/rock/pop trio Friendly Fires.
Although they have been around for a couple of years, Friendly Fires have yet to draw the acclaim and attention deserving of a band of their quality. While similar artists from the same ilk have found their way to the indie forefront (Hot Chip, MGMT), Friendly Fires has continued to fly under the radar...but will that always be the case?
Recently, Friendly Fires were picked as this mont's Ignition artist on the Zune Marketplace. Head to the marketplace to download Green Room video interviews taped at Neumo's in Seattle. In addition, a free track from their self-titled album will be available for download on 12/23 and an exclusive track titled "Your Love" will be available 12/30.
In the meantime, stream a few tracks from the UK band's 2008 self-titled release at their Myspace page, and keep your eyes and ears open for more from the Friendly Fires in 2009.
