Introducing Delorentos

I have a mouse problem.

Not the fuzzy, cheese-eating kind of mouse, but the gray, lifeless, and as of recently, not working mouse that is plugged into my USB cable. About a week or so ago it started saying we didn't have the appropriate hardware installed for the mouse and that our USB port can't recognize the device...needless to say it's made my blog browsing a bit of a challenge.

Luckily we've got a laptop so we can finger-navigate the web long enough to bring you a great track by the Dublin indie-alt band Delorentos.

I've had the pleasure of exchanging a few emails back and forth with Delorentos vocalist/guitarist Kieran McGuinness (how cool of a name is that?) and have really jumped on board the band's latest effort from 07', entitled Do You Realise?

As described in the Star Sunday, "In terms of first-times Irish releases, its STUNNING........should make Delorentos massive and not just in Ireland."

The Dublin foursome have spent time on the road with such highly respected bands as Gang of Four and Tapes n' Tapes, and are currently bound for a few dates in Austin during the South by Southwest Festival.

Those headed to SXSW down in Austin can catch the band at a number of locals, including Ninety Proof Lounge and BD Rieley's on March 12 and 13 respectively.

The Delorentos have a sound residing somewhere between that of The Cure and The Clash, but to pencil them into any sort of influence-based category would be a disservice to the depth of their tracks and their ability to switch from melodic ballads to dance-and-stomp guitar tunes. Delorentos are a treat for a fan of not just great Irish bands, but of indie, alternative, pop, and rock alike...a true diamond in the sand.
